Virtual Production Stage Operator

NAPLES, FL | MAY 2023 - PRESENT

Started with the opening of Studio X in May of 2023 as its first VP Operator. Responsible for the full production process from pre-vis and design, to shoot day operation.

Responsible for two multi-node systems: one 50ft diameter volume ,and another 20ft square volume that are used for medical education content, marketing assets, live events, and interactive tours. Also responsible for mapping existing virtual production processes, planning and testing new methods, and mentoring new team members.


Experience

Utilizing motion capture systems (Mo-Sys, Optitrack, Jetset, iPhone) to provide camera tracking data for pre-vis, and use by post and VFX teams.

Pre-production benefited from being able to review backdrops and framing earlier. On set, quick live composites in UE Composure provided confidence in framing for DP’s and directors. For post. motion-tracked takes inform camera perspective and provide synced, time code reference.

As the sole 3D artist in the studio for the first year and a half, I was responsible for designing maps, setting them up for Ndisplay, and then running the scenes in productions. With the limited bandwidth of a one-person operation, most environments are a “kit-bashed” mix of purchased assets and a few customized models or textures.

Projects are built in UE 5.3 for ICVFX productions, and environments and lighting are optimized for filming at 24fps on 60hz panels.

Real - World Locations

Built a library of 2D video and photo backplates accessible via Pixera iPad controls. Allowing our production team to quickly access old green-screen scenes associated with established branding.
